Review of the Vertex 04 2024 racquet from Bullpadel: Is it worth the investment?

The moment that many were waiting for! Today we bring the review of the new Vertex 04 from Bullpadel, a model that I have been liking much more as I have been testing it.

For those of you who don't know me, I've been using the previous versions of this racquet, like the Vertex 02 and Vertex 03, and now it's time to talk about its 2024 version, the Vertex 04. For me, it's one of the most versatile racquets from Bullpadel, ideal for players looking for versatility on the court.

Player Profile
The Vertex 04 is aimed at advanced to professional level players. However, I think it's a good fit if you're making the jump from mid-range to high-end.

Technical Features
This racquet has a diamond shape, which means that it prioritizes power over control, although it still offers a good level of control. Its high balance favors aerial play, especially for finishing and attacks. It also includes several performance-enhancing technologies:

  • Top Spin: Rough surface that facilitates the application of spin, especially useful for sliced volleys or drop shots.
  • Hesacore: Anti-vibration system that helps prevent injuries and offers stability on every shot.
  • Adjustable weight: Between 365-375 g, with the option of adding additional weights in specific areas without compromising the structure.
  • XT Carbon 12K: External material that provides greater durability and resistance.
  • Air Power Channel: Improves aerodynamics and increases the reactivity of the racquet at impact.
My experience on the court
I have been able to test the Vertex 04 in different climates, both hot and cold, which has allowed me to have a complete idea of its performance. Here is my experience divided into three sections:

From the back of the court.
It is a very manageable racket, and the sweet spot is quite wide, which allows for good shots even if you don't contact the center perfectly. In defense, it feels light and very comfortable for lobs and wall shots. However, when I face stronger shots, such as fast vipers, I notice that the racquet can be a little short in blocking, compared to the Vertex 03.

Attacking game
The Vertex 04 is very complete in attack, especially in medium and low speed shots, where it offers excellent control and ball exit. Although it is not the most suitable racquet for pure hitters, it is still effective in well-executed shots. If you are looking for a balance between power and control, this racquet is an excellent choice.

Transition and net play
In the transition from defense to attack, the racquet moves very well, thanks to its lightness and maneuverability. At net, it is perfect for spin volleys, trays and vipers. While it is not the hardest racquet for flat shots, it still offers a very solid performance on backhands and backhands.

Vertex 03 Comparison
Compared to the Vertex 03, the Vertex 04 feels lighter and easier to move around the court, which is an advantage in volleying and defense. However, on flat topspin and power shots, the Vertex 03 still has a slight advantage in terms of ball exit. All in all, the Vertex 04 is more versatile and maneuverable, but the Vertex 03 offers more punch, albeit minimally noticeable.

Final Conclusion
Is the Vertex 04 worth buying? It depends on your needs, if you are looking for a racquet that offers more maneuverability, control and versatility on the court, the Vertex 04 is an excellent choice.

If this is your first high-end racquet, you may want to start with a more affordable option before making the leap to a €200 racquet. However, if you're already determined to invest in a high-performance racquet, the Vertex 04 will not disappoint.
