Paquito Navarro is one of the most charismatic players in padel history and, together with Juan Lebrón, formed the first Spanish pair to reach world number one. His long career, shaped by many different partnerships, tells much of the story of how professional padel has evolved over the last two decades.

Who is Paquito Navarro?

His full name is Francisco Jesús Navarro Compán. He was born in Seville on 10 February 1989, stands 1.81 m tall and plays on the backhand side (left side of the court). He is one of the most experienced players on the tour and one of the most recognisable, thanks to the way he lives every single point.

From junior talent to professional player

Paquito started playing padel as a child and was soon competing in tournaments for his age group. At ten, he was world runner-up in his age category alongside Jaime Bergareche, and in the junior ranks he lost several world championship finals before finally winning a junior World Championship.

He trained under Adrián Allemandi and in 2009 made the jump to the professional tour with Jordi Muñoz. That same year he became Spain's under-23 champion.

Career and key partnerships

Paquito's career is best understood through his partners. Few players have built so many different projects and kept competing at the top level in almost all of them.

The first big results

In 2014, alongside Maxi Grabiel, he won the Valencia Master against Fernando Belasteguín and Juan Martín Díaz, the world number one pair at the time. In 2016 he teamed up with Sanyo Gutiérrez and enjoyed one of his best seasons, with titles including the Valencia Master, La Nucía and the Master Final in Madrid.

Di Nenno, Chingotto and more recent projects

In 2021 he began his partnership with Martín Di Nenno, one of the most successful spells of his career, with titles such as the Barcelona Master and the Buenos Aires Master. In 2023 he played with Federico Chingotto, and together they won the Master Final in Barcelona, the last big tournament of that year.

After other projects, in 2026 he reunited with Martín Di Nenno, bringing back one of the fans' favourite pairings.

World number one with Juan Lebrón

The defining milestone of his career came in 2019: together with Juan Lebrón, he reached world number one. They were the first Spanish pair to do so, at a time when the top of the rankings had been almost exclusively the territory of Argentine players.

Paquito Navarro's main achievements

  • World number one in 2019, with Juan Lebrón.
  • Qatar Major 2022 (Doha), with Martín Di Nenno: the first Major in Premier Padel history, won in the final against Juan Lebrón and Alejandro Galán.
  • Master Final 2016 (Madrid), with Sanyo Gutiérrez.
  • Master Final 2023 (Barcelona), with Federico Chingotto.
  • Valencia Master 2014, with Maxi Grabiel, against the world number one pair of the time.
