Federico Chingotto is one of the most recognisable players in padel today: at 1.70 m, he competes against much taller opponents and beats them with speed, game reading and rare consistency. That is why the tour knows him as "Super Ratón" (Super Mouse).
Who is Federico Chingotto?
Fede Chingotto was born on 13 April 1997 in Olavarría, in the province of Buenos Aires (Argentina). He stands 1.70 m tall and plays on the drive side (right side of the court), which surprises many fans who, judging by the way he defends, picture him on the backhand side.
He competes with Bullpadel equipment, the brand with which he develops his own range of padel rackets.
Why is he called "Super Ratón"?
The nickname comes from the way he moves around the court. Chingotto is incredibly fast, anticipates well and reaches balls that seem lost, returning them from almost impossible positions. On the tour, the nickname Super Ratón (Super Mouse) is used with admiration: it sums up how he turns his height into a speed advantage.
Chingotto's playing style
He is a control and strategy player rather than a big hitter. He builds points patiently, changes the pace and makes very few unforced errors.
That solidity is the key to his performance at the elite level, even without the reach of other top players. He makes up for it with game reading, positioning and a physical conditioning that lets him sustain his level in long matches.
Fede Chingotto's career
More than six seasons with Juan Tello
From 2016 until the end of 2022, Chingotto partnered Juan Tello. It was the longest-lasting pair on the men's tour and one of the fans' favourites. Their first title came at the Las Rozas Open 2020, which they won without playing the final after their opponents withdrew; from then on, the pair established itself among the best on the tour.
2023: the Master Final with Paquito Navarro
In 2023 he played alongside Paquito Navarro. Together they won the Master Final in Barcelona, the big tournament that closed that season.
Since 2024, with Alejandro Galán
In 2024 he began his partnership with Alejandro Galán, who plays on the backhand side. That same season they won Premier Padel titles such as the Seville P2 and the Genoa P2, and established themselves as one of the pairs that have most challenged the dominance at the top in recent years.
Chingotto and Galán: why the partnership works
It is a partnership of contrasts. Galán brings power, physical presence and the ability to finish points from the backhand side; Chingotto keeps the rally going from the drive side, defends and changes the pace until he finds the moment to attack. That complementarity explains much of their success.
