Gemma and Ale win in Chile to continue adding to their legacy
It's a never ending story. That's the story of Gemma and Ale, who have once again become champions, this time at the World Padel Tour Chile Open. The story of a pairing that, without any scruples whatsoever, have been tamping down their opponents week after week. With no other story than that of two padel prodigies who feed purely on victory. With that basic need, vital for them, they got through yet another final.
On the other side of the story, Carolina Jensen was setting a precedent in her career by becoming the youngest player to play in a final. The narrative of a unique moment for her was set against the precocious feat. The Argentinian, faced with the harsh heat and conditions that had already taken their toll on her in previous rounds, was forced to retire. After pulling off the epic, leaving the number 1's by the wayside, as if a one-eyed man had been watching her from the stands, she met with the worst of her luck.
The truth is that the match had already gone uphill for the pairing of Claudia Jensen and Jessica Castelló. The first set was cooked from the side of the court occupied by Gemma Triay and Alejandra Salazar. Chile had two players on court who were determined not to give up a single set ball. And so it was, despite losing their first serve, they closed with a 6-1 in the blink of an eye. In the second, to the lamentation of the spectators and the players of the match, the match had to be suspended due to the physical condition of the Argentinian Jensen.
In this way, with no chance to continue demonstrating that their sensations are beginning to resemble more and more those of the end of last season, Ale and Gemma won their second title of the season in Chile. Once again the World Padel Tour women's ranking is once again led by a commendable Gemma Triay. At the Paraguay Open they will be able to put the perfect finishing touch to the South American tour.
